How We Roll
Getting to know you is our priority. We’ll work with you to find a design that fits your needs, preferences, and style. No detail is too small for consideration.
This is one of the most significant steps, because we want to know our clients, and in turn, we feel it is very important for you to know us. We believe that it is an absolute must that everyone feels comfortable working together. A good fit is the beginning of a successful project. This begins by listening and understanding what you are looking for in your remodeling ideas. By listening to your ideas, as well as becoming familiar with your space, helps us establish what your desired design, timeline, and budget requirements might be.
Our very own designers are there to assist you through design, specifications of details, scope of work, and the final budget.
At this point we enter into a Design Agreement with you and begin the detailed process of design collaboration—the TEAM approach to design remodeling. We get very excited at this stage of our process, because it lets us know that you have placed your confidence in us, and we in you. Of course, our very own designers are there to assist you through design, specifications of details, scope of work, and the final budget. While this process may or may not take a few meetings, it is by far the most important part of the project—planning. We secure all the necessary permits and schedule meetings for material and fixture selections. We introduce you to the entire team that will carry out your project—it is the process of gifting and we make it fun and exciting.
We understand how stressful it can be to go through a remodel, so we take every precaution to make the process easy for you. We will handle any issues along the way, so you’re satisfied long after the project is complete.
This is the phase where all the previous work begins and the actual work site begins its motion. During the execution your lead carpenter, production manager, and designer work hand-in-hand to carry out the planned vision and keep you informed as things progress. Depending on the size of the renovation, this part of the project can be both exciting and daunting at the same time. But do not fear, you are in great hands with Kings Remodel. As an employer of Certified Remodelers through our local NARI chapter, our entire crew have decades of experience and hold themselves to a very high standard in work detail. They are masters at their craft and take complete ownership of their projects. With this personal ownership, you are guaranteed satisfaction.
Time to discover your new home! We’ll take you on a final walk through and answer any remaining questions. We will make sure you are 100% satisfied before you write the final payment.
Completion actually begins at the planning phase and is realized at the actual completion stage, so, we could have just as easily called it “pre-completion”—it is continual until the final punch list is complete and you are completely satisfied. With this in mind, we are continually monitoring not only the progress of your project, but also the emotional roller coaster that takes place during the entire process. As we indicated earlier, a major home renovation project is both exciting and daunting at the same time. Our goal is to keep everything in perspective as we reach the end of your project. We will walk through the final stage and make sure that you accept the work we have performed and to make sure you are 100% satisfied before you write the final payment.
We want you to enjoy your new space with no worries or what-ifs, which is why we offer our clients a one year warranty on our craftsmanship.
After completion, we want you to use and enjoy your new space with a peace-of-mind—with absolutely no worries with the what-ifs. That is why we offer our clients a one year warranty on our craftsmanship, as well as the warranty support for the products, materials, and fixtures we use and install in your project. This warranty gives you peace of mind. We have always believed that the real test comes when we have completed a successful project and our clients call us back for warranty work—that is the test, because more often than not, this is where remodeling companies fail.
Remodel Expectations
Hi, this is Mike King! I wanted to take the time and provide some personal thoughts when it comes to the subject of the emotional rollercoaster of remodeling and the importance of setting expectations.
I’ve always found this subject a bit interesting because it often reminds me of both my undergraduate and graduate studies in psychology and marriage and family counseling. The idea that in relationships we often find ourselves very excited in the beginning and as the relationship develops over time through all the ebbs and flows—highs and lows—the familiarity, if we are not careful, can turn to contempt and disappointment. Certainly, none of us—those who honestly seek it—desire an unhealthy relationship of any kind or desire a bad experience. After all, it can be daunting and take a toll on our emotional stability. Although, entering a remodeling agreement is not necessarily a marriage covenant, it is however a contractual agreement that has both a beginning, as well as an ending, and how we set these expectations with one another in the beginning will have a significant impact on the overall relationship value and project success.
Just like any relationship, remodeling can be messy and inconvenient. It involves giving up your most coveted personal space—your home. And depending upon the project at hand, it could be that you are giving up this space over a significant time period—a few weeks to several months. It quite possibly means you are losing your kitchen, a bathroom, or possibly finding yourself in a strange land (temporary residence). It is a commitment that requires time, money, trust, transparency, honesty, flexibility, and lots of communication. And this “Emotional Roller Coaster” is felt by both the remodeling company and client, so, it is important that we set the best expectations we can in the beginning and throughout the renovation process.
We understand the lows and highs of what we do, so, we can empathetically relate to your cause. We also understand the significant positive impact that a beautiful and functional remodel can have on your life, your family’s life, and the value of your home. In surveying over 2,000 homeowners, the data concluded that 77% of home owners had a “major sense of accomplishment” once the project was completed, along with 75% who have a “greater desire” to be in their homes enjoying the new spaces (Remodeling Impact Report, 2017). This is a great indication, for those who desire a change, that remodeling existing spaces and/or adding square footage may be a viable investment. We get it, so, it is our hope and desire to provide you with the best possible design-build-remodel experience available. We will walk with you through the entire home renovation process.
Based on our experience, the chart above is an excellent representation of what a twenty-one-week project might look like. And regardless of whether the project is small or large in scope and time, the emotional roller coaster remains constant. For those who have been through a remodeling project, this may or may be representative of your experience, particularly, a very poor experience, which would provide for very sharp low mood level percentages that would normally far out-weigh the high mood levels. Based on the chart below, our goal is to provide a realistic smoothly managed experience that results in a high level of excitement and accomplishment that will continue for years.
